An Overview of Lesson Types

In this article, we discuss "lesson types" as found under preferences!

Lesson Type

  • Under the preferences tab, you can list all of the different lesson types/instruments/genres that your studio offers! Listing lesson types on teachers and lessons allows for seamless blending and organizing across all scheduling and widgets. You can also filter by lesson types on the student report!
    • Essentially, lesson types group teachers and students together. Piano teachers will teach piano students; piano teachers can sub for one another, and so on.
    • Lesson types can also be a great tool for new and prospective students when registering for classes/lessons online. For example, students interested in learning piano can select that as a lesson type via the registration widget, and they can then select their choice of piano teacher from the list provided.

Note regarding lesson "level" (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced): Select the highest level that your instructors teach.  Level choice is only used for our "substitute" filter

ex: if a teacher is listed as "advanced" for instance, then they can teach all levels including beginner, intermediate and advanced.  If a teacher is list as "beginner", then they would not show up as a choice to "sub" for an advanced student.

Then, you will be able to add the lesson type to a teacher, and assign it to their student's lessons:
