How to split recurring billing between two or more payment methods!
A common situation schools often face is when they need to divide a billing payment between two parents. This typically occurs with divorced parents who want to split the cost of tuition evenly.
- 50/50 Recurring Billing Plans:
- First you must "enable "book plan under student edit" within your school's preferences:
-
- This feature enables you to create a plan and book it without linking it to the schedule in the student profile under "student edit".
- Ensure "Round Robin" is turned OFF to enable the card selection per billing plan. Here's an article explaining how to turn Round Robin OFF.
- To schedule your student, simply drag and drop them onto the schedule. Then, book the plan and apply a 50% discount to the tuition (or the amount Parent 1 will be paying).
- Next, create a duplicate plan under the "student edit" section and apply a discount for the remaining 50% (or the appropriate amount) to reflect what Parent 2 will be paying.
Here's what you should see with a doubled billing plan:
One with a Serial ID that matches the schedule and one that shows "N/A" meaning it is not tied to the schedule
Each billing plan is now configured to charge each parent 50% (or the percentage you've plugged in) of the total billing amount, and this payment arrangement will be recurring in each billing cycle!
Note: Both payment methods (both credit cards) must be added into the profile and can then be assigned to individual plans!
